programme, celebrates its 50th Birthday. The first edition was
broadcast on 16th October 1958 and was presented by Leila Williams
and Christopher Trace. To mark the occasion a special live birthday
edition will be broadcast on BBC1 today at 5.15pm.
This will include highlights of a special tea party hosted yesterday
by The Queen at Buckingham Palace, which many of the shows past
presenters attended, including Valerie Singlelton, John Noakes,
Peter Purves, and Lesley Judd.
I first became a fan of Blue Peter back in the late 1970's and have
held great affection for the show ever since. Back in 1983 both my
brother and I won Blue Peter badges for sending in letters and
pictures. A few years later my brother won a silver badge for
sending in a model of the Blue Peter studio.
For four consecutive years during the 1980's, we sent in Christmas
cards, which were shown on the programme. and below are pictures of three of them. You could say these are very early Dajon Designs ( sorry the picture quality is poor )
like this piece of the original burnt timbers from York Minster.
The competition was to design new bosses to replace the ones
damaged in the roof.
I just haven't got around to bidding for books 1 and 2 on
Ebay yet.
