Driving along Commercial Street

We end our blogs for July as we started back in Provincetown.

I took this Video during our holiday in June. I only recently

worked out how to upload videos I have taken myself when

I did the western train blog.

The music is The One by Kylie Minogue, sorry the sound

quality is not great it is from the car stereo and I do not

have any editing software.

Also sorry for the spaces in between each line on this post

it just typed this way and I was unable to change it.

Everything in the garden's lovely

Time for an update on the Dajon Garden. While we were away in
Provincetown and the weather was dull. The UK was basking in
sunshine. Since our return the weather has been very mixed. Lets
hope for a warmer and sunnier August so that we can spend some
time in the Garden

The window boxes and pots we planted up in May
are now in full bloom.
Sweet peas - we have already picked several bunches
for vases - the more you pick the more they flower.

These lanterns were a Christmas present from my brother
we used them for the first time last week.

Previously on Dajon Designs

It's a year today since we started blogging, so to celebrate
we thought it might be fun to have a look back at the past twelve
months. July 2008 and we had recently returned from a holiday in Provincetown
and the first picture we posted was of me on the town beach with Potter.

Throughout the autumn months we keep you up to date with our
card making and craft shows.
In October we took part in The Halloween Extravaganza
hosted by A Fanciful Twist.

Throughout December we counted down to Christmas
with our Advent Calendar

and celebrated my 40th Birthday in style in London.

During January and February we took part in One World One Heart
organised by Lisa Swifka - we got over 100 comments and gave away
a selection of our cards.

We have followed the seasons in The Dajon Garden

and at the end of June we took part in The Mad Tea Party
again organised by A Fanciful Twist and we had 41 great comments.

Back to Provinctown - as you will have recently read we again
had a wonderful time this June with our friends in Provinctown.
We welcome old friends and new to our little blog - Our aim
this Autumn is to blog more about our cards with a sprinkling
of other things too. Please feel free to become a follower of Dajon Designs
Keep on Blogging !

The Land of Make Believe

On Friday 3rd July we went to see some of my childhood hero's
Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston -
The Original Bucks Fizz.
They were performing a live gig at Mardi Gras in Blackpool.
We had a fab night and had a place right at the front of the stage,
in fact so close we could shake their hand while they were
performing. They looked and sounded amazing. Afterwards they
stayed back and signed autographs for the fans and I had some of
my CD's signed.

Bucks Fizz won the Eurovison Song Contest for the UK back in 1981
and a string of 22 singles followed until 1989, including 3 number
ones Making your mind up ( the song that won the Eurovision)
The Land of make believe and My camera never lies.
In 1985 Jay Aston left the group and Shelley Preston joined.
The most successful single during Shelley's time with the group
was New Beginning in 1986.
During the early 90's members of the group decided to leave,
however original member Bobby G still performs today as Bucks Fizz
along with his wife Heidi, Tammy Choat and Paul Fordham.

Back in 2004 Bobby, Mike Cheryl and Shelley reformed briefly
to take part in the Popular 80's tour Here and Now under the
name The Original Bucks Fizz. The crowed reaction was fantastic
and Mike Cheryl and Shelley continued as The Original Bucks Fizz

A couple of summers ago we also went to see this version of the group
again in Blackpool, and I had this great picture taken with them, and
also had some other CD's signed.

Earlier this year Shelley decided to leave the group again.
Then to everyones surprise Jay Aston has returned after 24years,
and this has sparked new interest in the group.

Return of the Western Train

Since returning from Provincetown we have had a couple
of days out, and a night out too ( more on that later in the week )

On Sunday 28th June we attended the Totally Transport day
on Blackpool promenade. The main reason for our visit was to see
the newly refurbished Western Train tram. The train will be the star
if this years Blackpool Illuminations after undergoing a 2 year
restoration thanks to funding from the heritage lottery fund.

Originally built in 1962 and only intended to last a few years.
The train ran until 1999.

Also on display were a selection of other vintage trams that still
run on a regular basis.
The Blackpool tramway runs from Starr gate to Fleetwood
and is 11 miles long. It is the only surviving first generation tramway
in the UK and dates back to 1885.

As you know from a previous post, I am a Star Trek

Monument in the mist

As we mentioned in a previous post the weather was not
too good during our recent visit to Provincetown. Sometimes
we were unable to see the Pilgrim Monument due to mist.

The Monument was built between 1907 and 1910 to
commemorate the first landfall of the Pilgrims in 1620
and the signing in Provincetown harbour
of the Mayflower Compact.

This picture looks like it has laser beams

Tales from Provincetown

As I mentioned on Friday we have just returned from holiday on
Cape Cod. We stayed with our good friends Stephen and Trevor at
The Oxford in Provincetown. We always have wonderful time filled
with love and laughter, and each year it gets harder to leave special
friends and a very special place. Unfortunately this year we were
unlucky with the weather, in fact the Cape has seen only 3 days of
sun this June. However the weather did not spoil our enjoyment
and we made the most of our time on the Cape.

We always pick up a hire car in Boston and make the drive down
to Provincetown, part of the holiday. We feel we have arrived when
we reach the rotary at Orleans. We had a problem with the first car
and had to turn back, due to the inconvenience we were upgraded
to this rather swish Volvo convertable that David fell in love with and
wanted to bring home.
We will be blogging more about our time in Provincetown over
the next few days, but here are some more pictures for starters.
